How to De-Stress Your Life with 3 Simple Tools

Have you ever had a time when you were running around like crazy, hoping your caffeine buzz lasts long enough to fit in at least 5 more things from your to-do list?

Your laundry is piling up, everyone else seems to need something NOW, and the last time you did anything nurturing for yourself feels like about a century ago?

Of course, I've never had a moment like that..... LOL!

When you are feeling stressed-out and a little crazy, use these 3 Easy Tools to reclaim your sanity:

1) When you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just not as peaceful as you'd like to be - ask "Who does this belong to?" If you feel lighter or more relaxed after asking, IT ISN'T YOURS! 

We are all super psychic and aware. 98% of our thoughts, feelings and emotions actually aren't ours. We pick them up from everyone around us.

Sounds wacky right? I thought so too. Yet, why not give this tool a try? I'm amazed when I see my 5 year old daughter use this tool and all of her angst and frustration just goes away.

2) Begin your day by asking "How can today be far greater and easier than anything I could possibly imagine?" Then let it go - don't let your brain try to figure out an answer. Allow the awareness to pervade your world and have fun following what shows up! 

3) Ask: "What do I require today that would make my life more peaceful?" Waking up 15 minutes early to have a cup of coffee by yourself? Taking a bath before dinner? Leaving your phone off? Maybe it's spending a whole day without doing anything that you 'have to' do. 

When you take care of yourself, it sends the message that you know YOU ARE WORTH IT. You deserve it. And then like magic, the universe reflects that back to you.

Healing From Trauma - Recovering YOU Quickly & Easily

Have you ever had something happen to you or your body that left you feeling traumatized? Have you had a surgery (recent or past)? Are there parts of your body that feel sore? numb? Do you struggle with upset emotions or fear?


What if there was an quick, easy, and simple way to UNLOCK your body from the trauma and have more of YOU?

I used to think that everyone else in the world could 'feel energy' or heal others, but that I could never do it. I was always drawn to people who had gifts with working with bodies and healing, yet I never acknowledged it in myself.

I now KNOW that ALL OF US have a healing capacity. Our bodies have incredible abilities to heal themselves when they are gently asked, invited, and nurtured along the way.

"I'll Have That!" - How to Have a Rad Life You Love

Have you ever seen someone who is having or doing something in their life that makes you think - "That is awesome. I'd like to have that!"? Maybe it is someone's gift with business, their ease with parenting, their joy for life, their style, their presence in a room, their ability to travel or maybe they have a really cool car or house. Whatever it is, it is something that you'd like to have more of in your life.

And after thinking that , have you ever gone into the wrongness of you for not having it or for not being able to create it? Or maybe you get a bit jealous? Or maybe you come up with all of the reasons why they can do it but you certainly couldn't?  Well, you can tell that I've never done any of those.....YEAH RIGHT!

Okay, so does coming from that place create any change? Does it make you feel light or heavy?

For me, when I start thinking those things, it just makes me feel pretty shitty and down on myself. Then I either stay in that pity party or I start coming up with reasons why I didn't really need those gifts, talents, capacities and cool things anyway. Sound familiar? Yeah, who needs a rad, awesome life anyway?....

I do! Yes, please! I'll have some of that!

So here's an awesome tool that I've learned from Access Consciousness. It's basically called "I'll Have That!" (or at least that's what I call it :))

Next time you see someone doing something really cool in their life, instead of feeling bad about not having it, feeling guilty for wanting it, or jealous or pissy or whatever it is that you do - you can instead say "I'll have that AND I'll have it my way!"

Start shopping for the life you'd like to have. Start choosing the qualities and energies that you'd like to invite into your life.

What people are you drawn to? Who do you admire? What are they creating, having, or doing that you would like some of? Once you identify those things - you can start playing the "I'll have that game!"

This is a game I often play while driving in my car alone. (The people driving past me probably think I'm crazy as I jibber-jabber away to myself!) It goes something like this - 

I'll have so-and-so's ____________, and I'll have it my way! 

I'll have Richard Branson's bank account, and I'll have it my way. I'll have Oprah's star power and I'll have it my way. I'll have Obama's ease and gift with public speaking and I'll have it my way. I'll have _______'s ease with their body, joy for life, etc, etc. You fill in the blank.

Sound fun? Sound easy?

So whatever you do, don't try using this super easy and simple tool for creating change, because it just might contribute to you HAVING A RAD LIFE YOU LOVE!

And you wouldn't choose that for what reason??

How to Nurture & LISTEN to your BODY

So here's a wacky, but very real concept: YOU have awareness and consciousness AND so does your BODY. You are separate from each other, and at the same time, you are one.


That's right - you are not just a body, and your body is not all of you. You are connected to your body in this amazing communion called embodiment. How cool is that?

Now for me (being someone who chose to study Biology and all sorts of other sciences in college -I love to think, analyze and problem solve), and I used to spend a lot of time living in my head and doing what I thought was right, or good, or healthy for me.

However, my body did not always agree with this. And for a LONG TIME, I did not listen to my body's point of view.

I know this sounds crazy, but your body actually has it's own idea of what it likes to eat, what clothes it likes to wear, how it likes to be touched and how much sleep it requires. And these KNOWINGS that your body has, may be very different than what you think or what you read or what your health care providers or society says.

For example, I used to run cross country and long distance for many years and I would get injury after injury... "Hello!" my body was saying "Are you listening???!! I don't like this!" Yet, I kept doing it. I would just take ibuprofen and run through the pain.

Sound crazy? Or maybe you've done something like this?

I also used to have awful stomach cramps and gas and bloating and pain (from the time I was a young child), and I thought that was perfectly normal. I never once had the awareness that maybe my body wasn't happy with something I was eating. Turns out, my body does not like eating dairy or wheat at the moment (at least that's what my body is telling me now and I know that can also change). When I don't eat those things, I have more energy, no stomach issues, clearer and non-itchy skin and no sinus infections! 

Have you ever experienced something like that? What if everything that occurs with your body, is just your SMART, AWARE BODY trying to tell you something? 

What if you could ask your body more questions and LISTEN to the awareness that you receive? What would that look like?

You can ask things like, "Body - 

  • what would you like to eat?
  • how much sleep do you require? 
  • would you like to go outside?
  • what type of movement do you like?
  • what would you like to wear?
  • how and where do you like to be touched?
  • how often would you like to have sex or be pleasured?
  • is that pain/stiffness/intensity even yours, or are you picking it up from someone or something else?

And then pause, and just allow the awareness to pervade your world. Don't let your brain interfere or start telling you all the things you think it SHOULD be doing! Your body doesn't like 'SHOULDS'. Ever notice that?

And also, can you be in allowance that what your body desires? IT can change A LOT! It may even be different every day. 

So what does it look like when you start asking your body questions and listening?

That may be different for everyone, but one thing is for sure - your body will be much happier, as will you.

For me, I do yoga, because my body loves the peace, space, and openness it creates. I sleep 5 or 6 hours some nights (and get up and do work or read in the middle of the night) and on other nights, I'll sleep for 10 hours. Most of the time, I wear clothes that feel good on my skin and make my body feel gorgeous (when I don't choose this - my whole body and being feel kind of tired, frumpy, and invisible). Most of the time I eat until I am full (and sometimes that is after A LOT of food and sometimes that's after just a few bites). I choose something to eat that my body practically jumps towards and says YES, That looks YUMMY! And when I don't, I feel icky or too full or tired.  I treat my body to more massages, touching, sex, baths, walks, and time in nature AS MUCH AS POSSBILE! I am now creating the time for things that my body truly desires.

I have finally started to get out of my head, listen to what my body would like, and then do it. AND WOW, - what a friggin' difference it makes!! And my body has been SO GRATEFUL. 

My body has been with me the whole time, just waiting patiently, taking all of the abuse that I've given it (because anytime you are going against your body and its knowing, that's a form of abuse), and STILL LOVING ME.

How brilliant are our bodies??

3 Ways to Get Your Magic Back

So lately I've been having one day where I feel totally great and happy and joyful, and then the next day I feel stuck, limited, heavy, and not like myself.  

I've been having this yo-yo effect from day to day and would much rather have more of the days where I feel amazing! You know the days where you have energy and things make you laugh and everything happens with ease. Would you like to have more of those too?

Have you ever had a time in your life when you felt AMAZING? Maybe you felt your whole body buzzing with joy. Maybe you felt incredibly peaceful and calm. Maybe you felt potent and strong. Maybe you created something or changed something that you thought you couldn't. Maybe you just had a really good day where everything seemed to flow.

Whatever it was for you, do you remember a time where you just felt joyful and LIKE YOU? And from that space you created some pretty cool stuff?

That is the magic that we all truly BE.

We have the ability to create magical possibilities just by being who we are. And being as unique and weird and different as we are.

Did you know the original definition of weird was "of spirit, fate or destiny"?

Yet, do you ever feel like your day to day life is pretty far from magic? Or lacking the brilliance and unqueness and weirdness that you'd like to see? Like you used to be able to create some cool stuff in your life, but not anymore?

Here are some simple things that you can do to get your magic back: (from Dr. Dain Heer and Access Consciousness tools )

1) Every morning you can ask "Universe, show me something beautiful today". It doesn't sound like a question, but it is. What if you could tap into the beauty and abundance of the Earth with that much ease? Hint - it is that easy ;)

2) When you are feeling crappy, limited, heavy, depressed, down on yourself, or just not as awesome as you'd like to feel - ask "Who does this belong to?" If you feel lighter after asking that, or if your body relaxes, IT ISN'T YOURS!

Sounds wacky right? I thought so too. But if you'd like to play with this tool - give it a try. I'm amazed when I use this myself or see my daughter use this tool and all of the angst or frustration just go away.

So if you feel lighter after asking, you can then follow that with "Return to sender". You don't have to know where it came from or feel bad about giving it back. Returning it to where it came from, allows it to also get cleared from that other person or place or space if they choose.

3) Ask - "If I were truly being the magic I am today, what would I choose right away?" This is not a question that you have to sit and figure out. Don't beat yourself up about not knowing your 'path' or worrying that you're not doing what you 'should' be doing. Follow what feels fun for you and what feel light. Even the Dalai Lama has said - "The purpose of life is to have fun". Agreed!

Open yourself up to the awareness that this question creates. You can go about your day asking questions with wonder and curiosity, and follow what feels like it would create more magic in your life.

Choosing for you, choosing for more magic, choosing for joy and laughter - this is what the planet and all the people on it require to heal.

What can we contribute? Hmm, I wonder what are the infinite possibilities... :)

How to Make Decisions with Ease

So one of my favorite tools from Access Consciousness is using a question to gain awareness.

 You can begin to make choices with ease and have those choices produce results that are a contribution to your life and living.

Before making a decision ask: "What will my life be like in 5 years if I choose this?" Then, sit in the energy that comes up from the question. 5 years is far enough in the future that your logical brain won't have an 'answer' for you. Instead, you will just feel the energy of what that decision will create.

Then ask: "What will my life be like in 5 years if I don't choose this?" Again, be aware of the energy that comes up after asking this question. 

You are not looking for an answer, or a way to figure it out. Be aware of how you responded after those questions.

Which question made you feel lighter? Made you giggle? Were you able to breathe easier? Did it feel like a lovely spring breeze in your world? That is the choice that is true for you. That is your path towards more joy and ease and fun.

Then Choose it! No matter what that looks like. It may make no logical sense, or maybe it does. What matters is that it is a choice that works for you, makes you feel lighter, and brings more joy into your reality.

You can use these questions for EVERYTHING! Not just the 'big' choices. It can be about what to eat for dinner, or whether or not to do an errand, or what you'd like to cross off your to-do list first. 

Have fun and play. See what awareness shows up.

Self Care: Selfish or Savvy?

I just got back from my first ever 3 days away from my kids and husband to go to a friend's wedding on the west coast. I ran in to a friend right before I left who was doing a similar thing for the weekend.

She said to me - "I'm kind of excited to go, but I just feel so guilty. I feel guilty to leave my kids and I also feel guilty that I'm excited to get away for a few days." Sound familiar?

Whether you are a parent of young children, single with a demanding job or your children are grown and you're busy with life, work and other responsibilities - WE ALL DESERVE A BREAK!

Yet, we're told that this is selfish, unnecessary and self-indulgent.

Is it? Or, is it actually what creates more joy, peace and ease in our lives?

At least for me, I came back from those 3 days feeling totally rejuvenated and revived. I felt so grateful for the life that I do have and was joyful about coming back to fix oatmeal, play fort, change diapers, and pretend to be wild animals with my amazing little girls!

Self-care is not just about taking care of ourselves, it's about being able to give to others, and to be fully present in our lives. When we take time to refill our well, then we have more to give.

On the other hand, if we let ourselves get completely tapped, with nothing left at all, then we end running on empty. We feel cranky, tired, depressed and a bit trapped in our own lives.

At least for me, these are the times when I lose my patience (and then get mad at myself for doing it). This is when I snap at my children for doing something silly like making a big mess while making potions. Or I get on my husband about how he could be doing more around the house. And I judge myself for not being able to do it all or for not being able to keep it together.

I don't know about you, but it seems to me like taking a bit of time for self-care, to prevent going down that rabbit hole, is worth it!

When we take care of ourselves, it sends out the message that we know that we are worth it. We deserve it. And then like magic, the universe reflects that back to us. 

If we run around always putting everyone else first (even though that's what we are told is good and the 'right' thing to do), it sends the message that we don't value ourselves. Is that the message that we want to be sending our kids, our partners, our coworkers, our world?

Instead, what if you could live each day of your life from a place of celebration? What if each day you could wake up and ask "How can today be far greater than anything I could imagine?" (this is one of my favorite tools/questions from Access Consciousness)

So ask yourself, what do I require today that would make my life more joyful? Maybe it is waking up 15 minutes early to have a cup of coffee by yourself. Maybe it is taking a bath before dinner and bringing in a book or magazine with you. Maybe it is spending the day at the park with your kids without your phone. Maybe it's spending a whole day without doing anything that you 'have to do' or 'should do'.

Whatever that looks like for you, just ask the question, trust your awareness, and then choose whatever makes you happy.

The greatest gift that we can give to others and to the world, is our happiness, our joy, and our laughter. 

That is what truly changes the world.
